What is MHS Gives Back?

MHS Gives Back began at Mehlville High School during the 2012-2013 school year. Founded on the idea of students helping other students at Mehlville, this program has done many things to help families in need at our high school.

Since MHS Gives Back was started, the main focus has been on our Backpack Program. This program supports any students and their siblings, who are in need, by sending home a backpack of food each Friday to help them with meals over the weekend when school breakfast and lunch is unavailable.

MHS students along with their teacher advisors have organized food drives and distributed food to over 40 Mehlville families. Although the focus is on providing food through this program, we can help families in many different ways. This includes providing school supplies, personal hygiene products and every day essentials on an as needed basis.

Many families feel they are capable of feeding their children on a day to day basis and don’t ask for help. Our goal in providing food in many cases is to allow families to save money on food so that it can be used for other necessities.

Families or students in need can contact their student’s grade level counselor, any teacher, or their grade level principal, whomever they feel most comfortable talking with. Families may also click here or on the link below, fill out the form and mail it to:
